Senior Lecturer – Coordinator of Advanced Nanotechnology Research
Dr. Samer H. Zyoud serves as a Senior Lecturer at Ajman University -UAE, where he
also coordinates the Advanced Nanotechnology Research Group and founded the AU
Nano-Maker Research Team. Dr. Zyoud earned his Ph.D. in Applied and Engineering
Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), specializing in semiconductor
fabrication, thin films, epitaxy, and nanostructures. Over his career, he has published
more than 150 scientific papers, authored six patents, and contributed to several books in
different language and book chapters.
He has been recognized among Stanford University’s Top 2% Most Influential Scientists
(2025), published by Elsevier, in acknowledgment of his cumulative scientific and research
contributions. He is also the winner of the CleanTech Hackathon (2025) and recipient of
the Wellbeing Economy Award – MENA Region (2025)-First place. These honors
highlight his role as a leading researcher driving impactful and sustainable innovations.
His research spans nanomaterials, renewable energy systems, photocatalysis, thin films,
photodetectors, solar energy, and antimicrobial nanostructures. He focuses on
sustainable solutions for clean water, clean energy, and environmental remediation, aligning
closely with the SDGs.
Dr. Zyoud is also known for his strong commitment to mentoring students, having
supervised award-winning projects presented at the Undergraduate Research Competition
(2023), the University Innovation Program at Expo City Dubai (2023), and the
Undergraduate Research and Innovation Competition (2024), where his team won in
Electrical and Electronics. His students will also present at the Qatar University Youth
Research Forum (2025).
Beyond academia, Dr. Zyoud is also an active member of the UAE Universities Climate
Network (UCN), contributing to collaborative national efforts toward climate action and
sustainability. He actively engages in youth empowerment and sustainability initiatives,
including the Ajman Youth Council’s “Ghars” Program, and has built wide-ranging
research collaborations across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. His vision is to bridge
academic innovation with societal needs, advancing technologies that deliver global
impact.
